Kindergarten!

Well it's official, he is done with Kindergarten and I am so happy that he LOVED school! I have heard horror stories from other parents and how their children hate school. Austin was just not that way! Here are some kindergarten highlights:

Austin on his first day of school! Note that he wants to be an astronaut when he grows up!

His School Picture

My two favorite pieces of art work he did this year! I LOVE LOVE LOVE them! I even put the pumpkin in an adorable picture frame and he will be used as a Halloween decoration with a bowl of candy corns sitting in from of him!

Is this not adorable? I am so mad I lost the original in the move! I wanted to keep it so badly. In case you're wondering what it is, it's a self portrait of himself when he's 100!

I always loved when his teacher would send home their "Monday Journals." Every Monday the kids would write in their journal about what they did over the weekend and then draw a picture to go with it. It was always fun for me to see what the highlight of the weekend was for Austin, it let me know what is special to him. It was the same thing every time, spending time with the family!

"I played with my dad and my mom and my brudr (brother). All four of us did play on the trampoline. I love my mom. I did play with my whole family. I did play all day." I had to add this one! Seriously? In a Monday journal he wrote "I love my mom"! That was so special for me to read!

I stayed at home. I did play with my brudr. We did play and play.
I went to my Grandma's house. I did go on an estr (Easter) egg hunt. I found ten eggs.

His best friend from school, Jace Mangrum! Jace is also in our ward so it was nice for Austin when we moved here that he already knew someone in his primary class, and these two are thick as thieves!

Austin with his teacher Mrs. Henley. She was great! It made sending Austin to school every day easy when I knew he was going to watched over by someone who truly loves their job and takes such good care of all those kiddos. We will request her for sure when Caleb goes. Don't you love their shirts? All the drawings are pictures the kids drew of themselves and then they put it onto a tee shirt! What a cute idea!

Austin at the end of the school year! Still wants to be an astronaut!

And then on a completely different note I am having so much fun with the web site How Does She. They have free pintables that are adorable and practical! So far I have print off:
- The dinner questions. It's usually just me and the boys and  I can only ask them about their day so many times. I saw this and I was sold! The boys have so much fun with it!
- The summer reading program. It's a bingo chart and each square tells you where you'll read for the day. Example: In the bathtub, in the family room, in your bed, under a tree, in your pajamas, etc... then when you do that square you get to cross it off and when you get a bingo you get a coupon! You get to write what ever you want on the coupon. Some of ours are a movie, cold stone, rock climbing, bowling, Hawaiian Falls. All things we were going to do anyways but now they thing it's a reward for reading. Today they did "Under a tree".
- The cute THANKS to put on the bag for Austin's teacher.
- The cute card to go with the bag for Austin's teacher.
- A pattern to make a boat that I am going to use for Thanksgiving. I know it's far away but I figured if I start on it now then it will be done by then!
So check it out! How Does She! Love it!
