So while we try and keep oursleves entertained we do things like ...
Go to the Mavs game! Jaren called the other night and said he got tickets to go, four tickets and even though it would mean a later night should we take the boys? Of course! I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth when I hear Jaren talking to the boys. He said, "Boys your mom and I are going to a basketball game tonight." And Austin says, "We know, we've already talked about it, and we know we're coming with you." It made me smile! The seats were excellent and the boys had a blast! Watching them clap and keep track of the score is kind of weird for me. They're so little and they like it!
We've been rock climbing! We take the boys a lot and when we don't, they climb the side of our apartment complex. If they're not shimming their way up the apartment complex they're up in a tree. And they get SO HIGH! They can not get enough of climbing and they're good at it! Jaren and I went the other night for date night too. It's a fun time, challenging but enjoyable. We'll go again soon for sure.
Play with this ball! Ian (my cousin) had one of these at Mom and Dad's house one time and Jaren remembered it. This is the super easy version and Caleb successfully finished it before I did! It can keep these boys (and myself if I let it) entertained for quit some time! It's like a maze and it has a starting line and a finish line and you have to weave this ball through the maze without letting it drop. I suggest getting one, they're very reasonable on Amazon.
We build forts! A lot of forts and since the apartment is small they take up most of it. I built forts all the time growing up and my Mom never made a fuss about the mess it made. I still like making them. I help the boys make a fort almost weekly. There's just something cool about having a fort to play in.
Unfortunatly we do go to McDonalds and Chick Fil A a lot right now! What can I say? They have playgrounds! And nobody underneath them to bother when I have two little boys who need to run around. We don't order food because you just can't eat fast food that often or they'll die by the time their my age but I do let them get an ice cream cone because I feel a little guilty using their playground without buying anything. We had a little heart to heart the other day about how when we move into our house we won't be eating as much ice cream.
We drive out to Sunnyvale and see our house!
And on Saturday it was a beautiful 66% so we headed to the Sunnyvale park (which is awesome) with our bikes and went for a ride. We ended up being there for 4 hours riding bikes, playing on the play ground and throwing frisbees. The city is small so it was fun to hear Austin call out to the kids he knew from school. The ice-cream man even came adding to the boys' already heavy ice-cream diets as of late.
I harass my little sister with photos of our apartment because I discovered that my phone can take panamoric pictures and I had to practice on someone! Thanks Sadie!
Sometimes we just stay here and the boys have fun being boys in our little cozy place. Man I love how they are such good friends!
And sometimes we have so much fun and eat so much ice-cream that we get sick and have to stay home from church!
I have been noticing the differences in my two boys lately. How individual and special they both are. Austin is so full of life! He loves every minute of it and lives it to the fullest! He is excited to learn in every aspect from nature to school, from church to friendships. He just goes and goes and goes. Jaren says he just runs at a different rpm than most of us, a higher one! Gosh I love that kid. Caleb is just happy to be here. He is loving to a different level. He is ALWAYS thinking of someone else and what he can do for them or share with them or how he can make them happy. He is chill and content. He is cuddly and sweet. He completly melts my heart! I love you boys, so very much! Soon enough you'll have room to roam, explore, jump, run, hide, play ball and boom to your hearts content.
You are such great parents! Those boys are lucky to have you. Your house looks great!
ReplyDeleteLooks like your house is almost done! HURRAY!! What's the expected date? And I can totally relate to "no booming." It makes Xander crazy. BTW, how old is Caleb? Because seriously, a hamster is amazing fun one there's a hamster ball with it. It's almost ridiculous how hard kids (ok and this grown up) will laugh at the sight of a rodent running around inside a plastic sphere. But you'd need to wait til he's about 5. The other down side is that then, there's a cage to clean. But hey, it's cheap entertainment.
