So completly random!

Have you ever seen the movie The Holiday? With Cameron Diaz and Jude Law? With Kate Winslet and ... the other guy, I can't remember his name. I know you would know him if I could remember his name. Anyways, have you seen it? There is a scene in there where Cameron Diaz finds out that Jude Law is a dad, has two daughters and has cow. And Jude Law says, "How's that for hard to relate to?" That's how I felt when we bought this ...

My boys call it a tractor. It's actually just a riding lawn mower but the name has kind of stuck and now the whole family calls it our tractor. We need this tractor because our new house sits on an acre lot. I know that's not a ton but can you imagine mowing an acre with a push mower? It would take hours. When I saw it sitting in my garage I had the thought, once again, how country this little city is. There are no stop lights, no grocery stores, no retail of any kind for that matter, although I hear we're supposed to be getting a grocery store ...

Anyways when I saw this tractor sitting in our garage I just felt a little bit like Jude Law, "How's that for hard to relate to?"

Also, we have a road runner (you know, the bird from wylie cyote?) that has taken up residence in our yard. He, or she is incrediably territorial! She chases away any other birds that even think about landing in our yard. I think she is trying to build a nest in the transom window above our study doors. I frequently see her with sticks and dead grass in her mouth.

Did you hear about Caleb? Well first of all he's growing like a weed! I mean Jaren and I both noticed it, his clothes were too small basically over night, leg cramps that would wake him up, ate like a horse, you know all the usual signs of a healthy growing little boy! But we measured him the other day and that little stinker has grown three inches in three months! Holy cow! When we went to Disney World in February he was 40 inches and now he's 43, he is quickly gaining on Austin. They can share clothes! This picture was from when he had his endoscope and colonoscopy. IT must have been traumatizing for him, he carried the pictures of his insides around and would show them to people. Any time he would draw a picture of a person he would draw their swallowing tube and their small intestine! That ended and the best part of it all is that the only thing wrong is acid reflux and heart burn! PHEW!

Before we moved into our new house Jaren really wanted to buy the boys a trampoline. He thought it would be a great house warming gift for them. I thought that we didn't need it. My thought was the house enough was a great gift. They would get their swing set back, they would have a back yard, they would have thier bikes, scooters, chalk and a driveway! Come on, let's save the trampline for a Christmas gift. WE never know what to get for Christmas anyway, now we have agood idea! However after we moved in I noticed that my boys always wanted to be at the neighbors house so they could jump on their trampolines. I quickly gave Jaren the go ahead and this is now in our back yard.

And it doesn't matter what the temp. is outside. If the boys are home this is probably where you are going to find them. And that includes Jaren! And no, it's not a typical trampoline, it's a spring free trampoline, safer.

And we'll finish off with the sloth. Have you ever seen a sloth in real life? Not just on the ice-age movies? They are so funny looking! I was a chaperone on Austin's field trip to the Dallas Aquarium and they had a sloth out and about, just climbing around all the people, If it weren't for the signs you could have reached up and touched it. I can not get over it's face! It's facial features are so ... I don't even know just so weird, it looks like I should be able to carry on a conversation with it.

  1. That sloth is awesome looking. No, I've never seen one in real life. In fact I don't think I've ever even seen a photo of one before.

  2. Hey! we saw sloths in Panama, and they ARE weird! Bethany is afraid of them. Your house and yard sound amazing. And I had a good laugh with my girls about Caleb's pictures. Very funny.
    Thank you for sharing!

  3. Fun! I am happy the boys are liking the new house! And I hope you get a grocery store soon. I feel like I have a little bit of experience with that (Milton). We did have one grocery store nearby, it was just expensive! Miss you guys!
